Why are people insisting on giving children names that are near impossible for adults to spell or pronounce, then the poor child is going to have a horrible time trying to spell their own name! And sure, it may be cute when they're babies... but these poor kids will be adults stuck with these names someday.

Baby names: How can i decide..?
I'm finding it so hard to think of which name i like the best for my son, i've narrowed it down to two but it's so hard.
I love the name Joshua James and i love the name Charlie.
Any tips on how i can make it easier for myself to decide? I've got 20weeks left to decide, but i want to pick the name now and it's stressing me out. I mean i can't take my mind off choosing one lol.
Baby names: How can i decide..?
Charlie is so cute!!!
What about Charlie James, or Charlie Douglas, or Charlie William.
Also, Charlie is a cute nickname, but when he gets older, he might prefer to be able to use the more "grown up" and professional name of Charles.
Reply:Think about why you like them.
Or think of the people you know named Charlie or Joshua. Think about how the name might remind you of them some time or another and whether you want that or not.
There's also the matter of nicknames.
People might call Joshua Josh, and might assume Charlie is Charles.
If you don't like a name that goes with it - his nickname might be out of your control.
If you've been through all that, ask the babies father or your family (mother, sisters, aunts, cousins) and see what they think.
Good luck.
Reply:I personally wouldn't want people calling my child J.J. but that's just my opinion. If you like all of them, why not use all of them? Charlie Joshua James or Joshua Charlie James?
C.J. and J.C. would make nicer nicknames....
Reply:i dont like the JJ either
Joshua Daniel?
Joshua Lucas?
idk...
Reply:I love Joshua James!!!!
Reply:How about Charlie-Josh, like a double name?
Reply:ask the dad and friends and reletives they could help

Can you please give your brutally honest opinion on these baby boy names?
I like Xavier and Patrick.
Reply:Noah - 10! I love this name!
Zachary - 7. Ehh.
Lukas (Luke) - 8. 8 is for Luke. Not liking Lukas as well.
Xavier - 0. Yuck! (sorry!)
Wyatt - 10! Love! Very good child and adult name.
Timothy - 2. Not a fan.
Patrick - 2. Not a fan.
Good luck!
Reply:wyatt is the only unique and interesting name on your list..the others are common and boring
cheers :X
Reply:I believe a boy should get a real strong man's name.
I like Andrew and Ben (Benjamin?)!
Of the names you've listed, I like:
Zachary (Zach) or just name him Zake with no nicknames
Luke same with this as the actual name if you like it
Wyatt
Reply:Wyatt
Noah
Zachary
Those three are the ones I think sound best with your last name as well as with your other two boys names.
Reply:I Love the Names Andrew and Ben!
My all time Favorite Name is Noah Andrew!
So Noah...
I also Love Zachary (Zach)
The others have potential Making Fun of Names.
God Bless!
Reply:Noah-nice name but not my favorite but I don't think he would be made fun of or anything.
Zachary-good name, love the nickname Zach
Lukas-I like it spelled this way better than Lucas and I love the name Luke
Xavier-I don't like it
Wyatt-nice, strong name
Timothy-I don't like it but only because I have known a few mean Tim's
Patrick-I don't like it...my son was born on St. Patrick's Day and everyone wanted me to name him Patrick but I chose Kevin instead
Reply:I personally like Wyatt its what we're going to name our baby if its a boy but I also like Noah and Patrick. Zachary seems too popular in my opinion and Lukas reminds me of mucas. Xavier reminds me too much of the Xmen movies and Timothy seems too common to me too but those are just my personal opinions.
Reply:NOAH! or nolan! i like those names, i like zach too and lukas
Reply:I don't really like Noah. I think Zachary is really cute. Lukas is eh. Xavier I personally think is ugly. Wyatt is ADORABLE. I think it goes with your last name well too. Timothy and Patrick would both also be acceptable.
Overall Wyatt Baksys is the best.
Reply:The only one I'm not a fan of is Xavier, I just personally don't care for it. And in my honest opinion it doesn't fit with Andrew and Ben.
I love the rest.
Timothy Patrick goes well together.
Reply:I really really like Zachary and Xavier
I like Noah and Wyatt
TImothy and Lukas are OK
And no way to Patrick
Reply:I think Noah goes best with his big brothers' names. But here's my ranking of all the names.
Noah- As I said, my favorite
Zachary- Neutral about it
Lukas- Really love this name, but I think Lukas Baksys might be a tongue twister for a child.
Xavier- Another I love, but it doesn't really go with brothers' names.
Wyatt- This one could be good too.
Timothy- See Xavier
Patrick- See above.
Reply:Wyatt reminds me of an older man. Timothy and Patrick do too but not to the same extent. I think Noah sounds cute for a boy but I'm having a hard time picturing a grown man with that name. I really like Xavier but I think that it stands out a bit next to Andrew and Ben. Lukas and Zachary both would work well for a male of all ages.
Reply:russ ross hayden ugh just not mackenzie u laugh now but its a boy name craze
Reply:I don't like Wyatt, Patrick, Timothy or Luke.... I suppose that leaves Noah *which I love*, Zachary and Xavier!
I just have issues with the others.. Wyatt it too country, ex boyfriend named Patrick, my bestfriends name is Timothy, i've never been fond of the name and I like Lukas but not Luke.
Good luck!
Reply:Noah- Common..but cute
Zachary-I like
Lukas-interesting spelling, you don't hear this one too often anymore, which is a very likeable thing!
Xavier- I really enjoy it!!
Wyatt- I come from the south..reminds me of a redneck..sorry.
Timothy-mister Timmy would be the 10th timothy in his graduating class, buuut it's a cute name
Patrick- I'm not too fond of.
Reply:Not Zachary ("Zack Back-sis?") Too many Acks.
Not Xavier. Too weird to go with your other children's names.
I like Luke, but not Lucas.
What about Scott?
Reply:Noah: 7/10

Lukas: 3/10

I like Zach and Wyatt. Only maybe not Wyatt because he may get called Hyatt, like the hotel.
Reply:Zachary is my favorite. :)

Zachary - Not bad.
Lukas (Luke) - No. At least spell it Lucas
Xavier - ICK
Wyatt - too cowboy sounding
Timothy - Love it!! My favorite on your list.
Patrick - It's ok. Not big on Pat for a man.
Reply:I think Zachary sounds the best---%26gt; Andrew, Ben %26amp; Zachary/Zac.
I think Noah is second, then Luke but I'm not really into the rest of them. Wyatt is stupid sounding to me- like a last name- and Timothy is very childish. Patrick is also the fat starfish on this generations sponge bob square pants.
Hope this helps:) Good luck.

Mia Isabelle Williams.
Such a classic but edgy name.
Rosemary is always pretty. Depending on what you like, they all work.
For the guys, PLEASE no Aiden. Its the number one boy name in America. 3 of my mom's best friends named their son Aiden and my second cousin's name is Aiden. Please stay away.
Ian is nice. Strong, short, and sounds nice to me. I've always likes Scott too.

Anybody want to help with baby names?
We are expecting our 4th child in August and we are looking for names. We have 3 girls and 1 boy right now and their names are Sydney Abigail, Gillyann Brooke, Maddilyn Rachael, %26amp; Dominic Liam. We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl, so we need opinions on both. Thanks so much! Blessings.
Anybody want to help with baby names?
I love the web site babynames.com - there are thousands of names w/ meanings on this site... I visited it several times when I was pregnant w/ my 4th child. I have 2 girls 2 boys. Zachary Allen a/k/a Zac; Abigayle Blair a/k/a Abi; Nicholas Isaac a/k/a Nic %26amp; Zoe Elizabeth a/k/a Lola (that's one of those things that doesn't make sense - I loved the name Zoe, but after she got here and developed her own personality, she reminded me so much of my grandmother, I call her by my grandmother's name a lot of the time.)
I like the name Noah for a boy and Lola for a girl. I think that baby names should have meaning - all of our children have at least one-part family names. Enjoy searching - Good Luck.

Reply:I wouldn't go with names that end with sounds already used in the names of your 4 children. And it seems like you have somewhat of a trend of using less-traditional names for the first name and traditional ones for the middle. Also you seem to give them long names. Keep those going with you next child.

What do you honestly think of these baby names?
Brett (for a boy or a girl)
Tyler
David
Markley (for a girl)
Sophie
Olivia
What do you honestly think of these baby names?
I honestly think all of them are adorable and timeless, except Markley. I think it's a bit too modern and won't age well.
Reply:Brett (for a boy or a girl) Not common, which I like and also easy to say. Nice sound. Even more interesting for a girl because of its rarity.
Tyler Although it's a nice name, it has been way overused in the last decade, so I wouldn't choose it.
David Solid, strong name, but a bit old-fashioned for some. It will neither shame your child nor cause people to compliment your child.
Markley (for a girl) Interesting and looks pretty, although people will shorten it to Mark whether you like it or not. Unless you are trying to create a new unisex name single-handedly =), it may not be best. It's also a bit hard on the tongue.
Sophie Pretty, soft, sophisticated, girly, Frenchish which is the same reason some might consider it pretentious. I like it though. =)
Olivia Old fashioned, but elegant movie star old-fashioned. I picture a woman who will age well and a child who is like a little woman. It's a nice name as well and flows off the tongue, unfortunately I think of olives when I see it, so I can't use it myself.
Hope this helps! Of course it's just personal feeling. All these names are nice and will be even nicer if they apply to your child.
Good luck!
Reply:Markley is terrible. Sorry. It's masculine (Mark) and, well, sounds like the name of a Sesame St. character.
Olivia is very pretty. I prefer the more formal Sophia, but you could always use Sophie as a nickname.
Brett is not a suitable name for a girl. I have a masculine name, and, after 26 years, it is *still* a daily hassle.
I love David! Such a good, solid, classic masculine name! Good job :)
Reply:Brett is a MASCULINE boy's name, it should only be used on boys. I hate hate hate the trend of girls getting boy's names. But it's a great boy's name.
Tyler is a name I actually love, and I loooove the nickname Ty =). But I can't use it because of a mean boy from elementary school! =(
David is a great name but really overused. There are so many Davids at my school and when the teacher calls rolecall, it's like, David, oh which one?
Markley is completely made up and a cutesy form of Mark. It sounds like a MALE dog's name.
Sophie shouldn't be used alone, but Sophia is lovely. However, it's sooo common your daughter will be one of 11 Sophie's in kindergarten.
Olivia is the same as Sophia, lovely name, but sooo common.
Reply:Love Brett for a boy. not overused and a nice masculine name
Tyler, David, Sophie and Olivia are way too popular and overused.
Markley is new to me. - I like it, it is sweet and interesting and easy to pronounce and spell.
Reply:I don't like the idea of Brett for a girl. It's a very masculine name.
I don't really know what I feel about Markley.
Sophie and Olivia are adorable names, and Tyler is a very good name for a boy.
David seems too classic.
Reply:Brett (for a boy or a girl) for a boy ok, for a girl definitly not!!
Tyler- ok, common
David- ok but abit boring
Markley (for a girl)- definitly NOT!!
Sophie-boring
Olivia-VERY common!!
Reply:I would not a girl Brett. Tyler is overused. David is good. Markley sounds too much like Barkley- the Sesame Street dog. Sophie is pretty. I don't like Olivia.
Reply:Brett: Definitely NOT a girl name.
Tyler: Okay
David: Okay
Markley: Good for a DOG.
Sophie: Okay
Olivia: Okay
Reply:Boys: All pretty good.
Girls: Sophie is my favorite, Olivia is okay, Markley is just stupid. Don't like Brett for a girl either.
Reply:Brett, Tyler and David are all good boys names, and Sophie and Olivia are good girls names i dont like Markley
Reply:Brett- Preferably a boy's name, it's ok I guess.
Tyler- Love it
David- Like it
Markley- Hate it
Sophie- cute
Olivia- not my taste.
Reply:I find these names are very modern and frequently used. Markley I have never heard of and find it an ugly name for a girl.
Reply:I like the name Sophie. I could do without the others.
Reply:i don't like brett, markley, or david. all the others i do.
Reply:I like Brett, Tyler, Sophiem and Olivia
Reply:Markley... Nnnooo!
Reply:i honestly only like Olivia.
Reply:I don't like Markley at all. I do like Olivia for a girl though.

Reply:I love Brett (FOR A BOY) and Tyler.

Tyler is alright...
so on so forth.
Reply:I don't really like them.

Have you ever had a dream about baby names?
I had a dream last night that my fiance and I were looking for a room to rent in someone's house.
We went to meet one family. The room was great -- almost like large studio apartment -- but they had named their four young children Cheery, Mammy, Mama, and Missy. (Mammy and Mama were boys!) We decided right away that this wasn't the house for us!
Any baby name dreams to share?
Have you ever had a dream about baby names?
Yup. I am dislexic and can't spell very well and I had a dream that my brothers wife had another baby (She was pregnant at the time) and it had a really long name and i couldn't spell it. I wrote it a card and i kept writting it over and over again!! I woke up sweating!!!
Reply:I had a dream a few months ago that we had our baby, it was a boy, and while I was sleeping after giving birth, my husband filled out the birth certificate. He wrote the baby's name as "Samuel Farraday __last name__". When I saw that, I was shocked! We hadn't even discussed either of those names! And I had no idea where he came up with "Farraday!" I wasn't mad, exactly...but I was really confused and not particularly happy! LOL. I told him, "Well, Samuel is nice...but Farraday?? What in the world?" and he said to me, "Well, I just wanted him to have a really strong name, and Farraday just sounds so strong and masculine, doesn't it?" LOL. It was really funny. Especially since we are having a girl! :o)
Reply:Lol that's a great dream!!
I've had only one baby name dream, as far as I can remember. My sister just had a girl a year ago, named Ava. I had a dream a couple of months before she was due that she had a boy and named him Nolan...and then she told me that Nolan was in her top choices for a boy, and I'd never been told that before!!
Reply:I had one just last night. In my dream my husband said "its okay with me to name her Haylee Grace."
Lately we've been arguing over what Haylee's middle name will be and I LOVE Grace and he likes Paige. BUT he picked Haylee and I want to pick part of her name. Plus, Grace just sounds better. I was kind of disappointed when I woke up this morning and realized it was just a dream.
Reply:Yeah, the other night I dreamed my older sister had another baby girl (weird because she has a hysterectomy last year) and she handed me the baby and told me to name her. I was narrowing it down to Cali and Rhiannon when I woke up.
Reply:i wanted to name my daughter janice but the night my husband and i decided i had a dream of Janice from friends coming in and saying "OH MY GOD!" so we changed it to Danielle Marie and we've never been happier
Reply:LOL at Waiting for October! I agree!
I've never dreamt specifically of a baby name, but when I started dreaming of babies, I decided that was a none-too-subtle hint from my long-dormant biological clock. :)
Reply:No, I haven't, but maybe it could make the name process easier if I did!
Reply:yes and its so funny i had this dream about 5 years ago. my second husband and i have been married almost 7 years now.i got my tubes tied in 1982 after my last child was born so you know its not going to happen.but still i think because TOM really has no children of his own that subconsciously i wanted to give him a child,i love babies,i had 5!!
in my dream an angel came to me and told me i was having twins,a boy and a girl.she said they had picked their names already .when she told me i asked how do i spell the girls name? is it spelled L-O-N-I ??? she said no that's all wrong
it is like this L-A -N-I DARLENE.call her LANI
the boy wants to be QUINTIN THOMAS call him QUINTIN.it seemed so real!!!i still love the names but i will not have any more children.it was a beautiful dream.

Reply:I miscarried one of my twins recently and am left with just the boy and I lost the girl but we were going to name them Alijah and Aiyanna.
Reply:Look up the top 100 baby names. Don't name your kid anything on that list. Different spellings of common names are not cute. Jasmine is a stripper name, as is Summer, Sparkle, etc. Unique makes you sound like a dork. At work, one mother called out to her daughter. Named "Beige". Don't name your kid something horrible. Karen is a very nice professional sounding name, and will serve her well in her future adult career. Your cute widdle baby will not be a baby forever, so naming it something cute will not be good for it as an adult. Keep that in mind.
Reply:Aric is a Teutonic name meaning noble warrior. Also the unusual spelling gives it distinction. Judith is an old name
that carries a meaning of stength and wisdom. It is seldom used anymore, which lets a girl stand out in the sea of Morgans and Britanies.
Reply:For girls I love Victoria, Teresa, Eva, Anna, and Audrey. Maybe Audrey for the girl and Evan for the boy? Just some suggestions. Good luck!
Reply:Congratulations!! How exciting--twins!
Well, you already used up my number one choice--Andrew.
Isabelle and Blake?
I am so old school, I like the rhyming names--sigh
Reply:You two have already been said to use Rachel and Vince for names. So, go with your middle names!
Reply:Willow Anne

Reply:Grace %26amp; Sean
Reply:Autumn Lily
Audrey Rose

Elliot Matthew
for boys.
Twin Names:
Brendan and Sarah.
Means prince and princess.
Aidan and Nadia.
Aidan is Nadia in reverse!
Reply:Abigale "Abby" for the girl and Bradley for the boy. (Twin "A" and twin "B".
Or maybe Olivia and Zachary?
My twins names were picked out ahead of time, but my husband looked at them both at birth before deciding who got what name. It may be a last minute decision for you. If that makes any since?
Reply:Nadia and Aidan. Spell the same name backwards!
My friend's mom named her boy-girl twins Nathan and Angela. Same number of letters. The one starts with NA and the other with AN.
Another idea may be to give them names with nicknames that sound cute together for when they're little, but more professional/individual when they get older if they chose:
Anthony and Victoria could be Tony and Tori when they're little, but have "options" when they grow up!
These are just ideas...you know what you like, and maybe this will help you get there!
Reply:I have to say James and Judith. (Jimmy and Judy) I know you said no matching initials but I like these twin names. They are old fashion names and not to common today.
Reply:Why not combine your names for Raven and David?
Reply:How about Clair and Owen...?

me and my husband are so excited!
My name is Rachel
My husband's name is Vince
and we have one son who's 3 named Jason Andrew.
We want something kind of unique for the girl (not too out there) and something kind of normalish for the boy.
Please no rhyming names for the twins or the same letters for both (like Carlie and Connor).
Please help! Due in 3 weeks!
Baby Names??
For a girl I suggest Adeline, Marielle, Cracie Lynn, Ivette, Wendelyn, Anjelique, Lorina, Eveline, Jamie-Lynn
For a boy I suggest James, Benjamin, Erick, Jack, Stanly, Michael, George, Joseph, Robert, Tomas, Timothy, Evan
Reply:Some thoughts...for the little girl, of the names we had picked out (after choosing Maya) was Rayleigh...it's a bit different (though similar to Kaylie)...and for the boy, perhaps Bradley or Matthew??
Reply:girl - Aimee Catherine
boy - Riley Thomas (Thomas means twin in Hebrew)
