Does my sister have good taste in baby names?

My sister named her kid Paulina Shalie. I was just wondering what you think. Please be perfectly honest about what you think because it is not my kid so my feelings will not be hurt

Does my sister have good taste in baby names?
I really like the middle name, Shalie, because it's original and cute. Paulina honestly sounds like a ninety year old woman's name.
Reply:Paulina: This name is popular in Germany. I think it麓s also popular in Eastern European countries.In Russian this name is written as Polina [paw-LEE-nah].I love this name! Even though it is A LOT like "Paul", Paulinais a good subsitute.I love this name - lovely look, lovely sound.


I think Paula Abdul and a lot of Paulas of her age group owe their names to the 1960s pop duo Paul and Paula with that hit song "Hey Paula, I want to marry you/ Hey hey Paul, I want to marry you too."





Shalie Ugh, while the name Shaelyn sounds pretty against all odds, this name sounds harsh, tacky, and somewhat too youthful. It's funny what a small difference in sound can do.
Reply:I like the name Shalie, but I don't particularly care for the name Paulina. I like Paulette, but I personally think Paulina is pushing the limits a little. The full name itself is cute, including Shalie, but I just don't like the way Paulina sounds, it just sounds too old-fashioned.
Reply:Paulina is nice, and classy sounding.....but "Shalie" is one of those pretentious, silly, made-up names, and its HIDEOUS!





........sorry, but i'm a pre-school teacher, and we always make fun of the parents that name their kids those kind of things. We roll our eyes behind the parents' backs.......and pity the poor kid.

If i ever have a little girl I always said I would name her Knesset (Neh-Set) Lorae (Lor-ay).... *shurgs* some ppl don't like it but I don't care. I do.. :)
Reply:i love the name shalie b/c it's really unique and pretty. paulina, on the other hand, while it may sound beautiful, it just doesn't go well with this generation.
Reply:Erm.......I think Paulina is a beautiful traditional name. But Shalie takes away the elegance of Paulina. I guess its a nice way to put a modern twist on a time-less name. But I don't like Shalie.
Reply:I don't mean to be rude, but i think it is a bit strange...don't get me wrong, I love unique names, my own name is Raelynn. But it doesn't flow well and I could just imagine what kids would call her on the playground...
Reply:I have a Polish cousin named Paulina, so yes, I think it's pretty. I've never heard the name Shalie before, but it still flows well with Paulina.
