My Wife and I are going to have a baby GIRL in a few days.
We have not decided on a name yet and wanted to get some comments on what everyone think is the best out of the names we both like.
They are:
Apple Jade
Katie Lynn
Savanna Lynn
Trisha Ann
Sara Lynn
Jenna (something)
September Marie
Timber (something)
Please feel free to sugest middle names for those that say "(Something)" but please stick with the names listed in this question.
Thank you
Baby Names?
I like Katie
Reply:When naming a child two things to consider are the "flow" of the name or how "hard" the name sounds (Mark Twain) or how soft the name sounds (Dwight David Eisenhower). This is done mostly by making sure the two adjacent names (first/middle middle/last or even first/last as middle names are not always used) do not have the same number of syllables.
You also want to avoid having two names together that start with the same letter (Tina Turner) or where the last letter of the first is the first of the second (Erin Neri [comes out Airaenaieri]).
Initials are also very important. You don't want a child with the initials HAG or DUM or some other combination that would be a breeding ground for teasing. This is especially hard with a girl as her married name could be just about any initial.
Other things to consider are Religion, Culture, Fads/Fashions, Nicknames, Namesakes and more... whew!
Who knew naming a baby could be so hard!
Reply:I really like Savanna Lynn. It has a good ring to it. Congratulations, and best wishes.
Reply:Unless they are actually old family names, September and Apple and Timber are unkind names to burden a child with. Not only because they are not usually considered "name" names in our culture (and yeah, I know about Gwen Paltry's kid), but also because they are difficult names to shorten or make into girl's nicknames. And people will not always want to call your child "September" every time they see her.
I like the look and sound of Sara, but that's not important. What's important is what you'll say when your daughter asks you, "Why did you name me xxxx?" Having a reason beyond "We liked the sound" or "It got the most votes on Yahoo" would be nice. Something special about that particular name.
Having said that, it's impressive that you've agreed on such a long list of names! Already you're good parents, and you haven't even started. Have a wonderful time with your new darling!
Reply:Well personally I like Savana Lynn.
For the "something" middle names, I think Annette would be very cute! Maybe even LeAnn instead of Lynn. But you've picked wonderful names! Congrats %26amp; good luck!
Reply:Please dont name your little girl after a piece of fruit or a tree. What about sara beth, or sara dawn.
Reply:katie maria lynn sounds good i love the name katie my grandma name is that.........or the name Katie jade lynn
Reply:What if you combine two of the names you have
like
Jade Lynn
Congradulations by the way!
Reply:Savanna is real pretty.
Reply:What about Wynter?
Reply:I like Katie, that's my name! Congrats and good luck, lots of fun ahead of you :)
Reply:I think it is really hard to say what name is best because you have to know your last name...for instance I like Jenna, but if your last name was something like Jameson...well then you've got a porn star name...and you don't want that for your baby girl!
Reply:all of your names sound great congrat's on the baby what about sierra winter that's my name and a lot of people like it hope i helped e mail me at mizzfreeze@sbcglobal.net
Reply:I like Jenna, but every time i hear it i think of Porn Star Jenna Jameson! I have 2 kids both have uncommon names. my suggestions are: Anastasia Leigh, and Taryn(pronounced tear-in)Leighanne. But what ever you choose, make sure it has meaning behind it. Jenna Noel! just to stick with a name on your list.
Good Luck and have fun! I have one of each
Reply:my favorite name is paige nicole, but to stick to the list sara lynn is a good name and not really that common. Jenna marie is also a good name.
Reply:I love these two names. I like September Marie the best.
Katie Lynn
September Marie
Olivia
